Discover the Ancient Mark of Sa Dec, a Romantic City on the Romantic Sa Giang River

Sa Dec, as an ancient city, was a busy trading place for Kinh, Hoa, and Khmer people... so the vestiges of the ancients still exist today and are visible through the houses.

Sa Dec city, located between the Tien and Hau rivers, 140 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, 40 kilometers northwest of Can Tho City, and 30 kilometers from Cao Lanh City, has long been chosen as an economic trading place in the Mekong Delta.

The remnants of the ancients can still be seen in Sa Dec today, most notably in the ancient houses.

Visitors to Sa Dec, in particular, frequently visit the ancient house Huynh Thuy Le - the main character in French writer Marguerite Duras' romantic novel "Lover."

Everyone knows this house as Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House, after the late owner, Huynh Thuy Le, a wealthy Chinese Vietnamese in the early twentieth century.

When Marguerite Duras' autobiography (L'Amant) was adapted into a film in 1991, the house became famous all over the world. It seems that everything here has been stopped by time, dyed ancient, quiet but still exudes inherent elegance.

Huynh Cam Thuan (father of Huynh Thuy Le) - a famous Chinese merchant - built the old house in 1895. (Fujian, China).

The old house can be found at 255A Nguyen Hue Street, Ward 2, in the heart of Sa Dec City. Every day, a large number of tourists come here to learn, visit, and take pictures.

Aside from Huynh Thuy Le's ancient house, there are numerous buildings, houses, and street corners with ancient architectural styles.

It can be three-story houses with yin and yang tiles on the roofs, with many delicate and elaborate carving patterns, or simply simple tube houses with gold walls but still covered in old paint.

It can be seen that Sa Dec is a quiet city with plenty of trees and cool breezes from the Sa Giang River that runs through it.

The peaceful beauty of the ancient houses close to each other, the peace of the pagoda roofs, and the peace of the beauty of the "pink lotus" people all impress visitors.
